The President of the Court of Appeal, Honourable Justice Monica Dongbam Mesem has directed that the period strike embarked upon by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria be excluded in the computation of time for all court dealings.
The Practice Direction issued to that effect is hereinunder:

THE COURT OF APPEAL (EXEMPTION OF PAYMENT OF DEFAULT FEES FOR THE FILING OF COURT PROCESSES) PRACTICE DIRECTION (NO. 1) 2021. [15th Day of June 2021] Commencemet
In exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 248 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, Section 8(2) of the Court of Appeal Act, 2004 and by virtue of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I Monica Bolna’an Dongban-Mensem, President of the Court of Appeal, hereby issue the following Practice Directions.
1. Notwithstanding the provisions of Order 19 Rules 2, 4 & 5 and Order 12 Rule 1 of the Court of Appeal Rules, 2016, the computation of time to: (a) file all court processes within a prescribed period; (b) do an act provided by the Rules; and (c) pay default fees for extension of time within which to file a process or do an act; Shall be exempted for the period covering the pendency of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) strike being from the 6th day of April 2021 to the 14th day of June 2021.
These practice directions shall apply to both Criminal Appeals and Civil Appeals in the Court of Appeal
These Practice Directions shall be cited as the Court of Appeal (Exemption of Payment of Default Fees for Filing of Court Processes) Practice Direction No. 1 2021.
