The Civil Society Group, Equity Initiative has condemned the injurious falsehood claim on the office and personality of the Director-General of the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh who is making the agency proud since his assumption of office, called on the general public to disregard the beer-parlour allegation.
The Group Secretary, Fatai Abiodun averred that the satanic claims from the purveyor of fake news against Dr. Bashir Jamoh amount to an injurious falsehood aimed at tarnishing his hard-earned image which they have failed to achieve, urged the general public and the international community to await the report of the EFCC as demanded by Dr. Jamoh.
While expressing that the purported allegations have failed the integrity test based on the irregularity contained therein with a faceless author with no known address, urged the security agencies to unravel the investigator and publishers of such fake news to serve as deterrent to others.
Their statement read;
“Our attention has been drawn to the purported and satanic allegation against the Managing Director, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, NIMASA, Dr. Bashir Jamoh.
“It’s important to state unequivocally that we are not holding brief for Dr. Bashir Jamoh but became important as the watchdog of the society to put the record straight while awaiting the report of the investigation requested by the NIMASA boss.
“Though we are not inundated to join voice with faceless UK Investigators that purportedly traced N1.5 Trillion, $9 Million, and another $9,557,312.50 allegedly looted funds to NIMASA Boss, Bashir Jamoh’s Personal Accounts.
“To show the level of inconsistency on the satanic allegation, the writer had alleged that the purported N1.5trillion was cleared after a few months from the account to avoid investigations, the question is if the purported amount has been cleared as erroneously alleged, how come the anonymous investigator were able to discover the alleged fraud?
“How much is the budget of NIMASA where a government agency were able to have 1.5 trillion in the account and the almighty CBN were not able to know?
“With all the platform provided by the EFCC to report any suspicion of fraud, the purported UK investigator find it difficult to share information with the agency, where is the electronic evidence of such transactions?
“There are many questions begging for answers. We are sure that the EFCC as a professional agency would not speculate but solely on empirical evidence.
“Based on the irregularity of the purported claims which have failed the integrity test, we are poised to state that any report with an unnamed author cannot be relied upon and the self-acclaimed anonymous author failed to show receipt of the transaction as evidence of payment.
“Since we are in an era when bad information trends like wildfire, we are not surprised by the satanic agenda of the fifth columnist, but anyone standing on the truth needs no crowd as every lie has an expiry date.
“The fictitious name of GLOBAL INVESTIGATORS UNITED KINGDOM the fifth columnist claimed that it exposed other infractions by the agency’s boss does not exist and a Google search on the purported name clarifies their non-existence.
“We humbly implore the general public to disregard the purported report and dismiss all the injurious falsehood claims against the NIMASA DG. We are sure of the EFCC’s spirit of impartiality and professionalism and believe they would do justice and carry out their investigation in line with the best global practices and urged the Security agency to expose the author of the purported allegation.
“The antecedent of the NIMASA boss on the achievement recorded so far after taking the mantle of the leadership can testify to his dexterity and knowledge of managing man and resources.
“We are also aware of the satanic elements aimed to tarnish the image of President Muhammed Buhari by destroying his nominees so as to portray the government as a corrupt one.
“One thing is certain, the truth shall always prevail and every lie has an expiry date. We are sure that the enemies shall be put to shame.”
