Eti-Osa Bar Forum Meets Lagos C.J., Receives Assurance of Own Judicial Division

The Honourable Chief Judge of Lagos State, Honourable Justice Kazeem Alogba has given firm assurance of the creation of Eti-Osa Judicial Division, before the commencement of the Long Vacation of the High Court of Lagos State. This was revealed in an interactive meeting with the delegation of the Eti-Osa Bar Forum led by Oladotun Hassan and Ayodele Ademiluyi, Chairman and Secretary of the Eti-Osa Bar Forum respectively at the Chief Judge’s Chambers , High Court of Lagos State Complex, Ikeja, Lagos State on Tuesday, 14th January, 2020.

According to the statement by the Forum, the Chief Judge received the delegation in company of other Honourable Justices of the High Court of Lagos State.

Justice Alogba expressed the fact that as soon as the High and Magistrate Court Building, Eti-Osa , which has recently been commissioned is physically handed over to the Lagos State Judiciary, an independent Registry will be set up for the purposes of administration of justice at the High and Magistrate Court Building, Eti-Osa as part of the processes for the inauguration of the Eti-Osa Judicial Division of the High Court of Lagos State.

The Chief Judge stated that Judges and Magistrates has already been assigned to the High and Magistrate Court Building , Eti-Osa. The Chief Judge also gave assurance of creation of more Magistrate Court rooms within the High and Magistrate Court Building, Eti-Osa to cater for the foreseeable bulk of litigation in the area.

Mr. Oladotun Hassan , the Chairman of Eti-Osa Bar Forum , in his response raised the need to revive the Bar and Bench Forum as a means of sustaining the conversation between the Bar and Bench towards better administration of justice.

Mr. Hassan also raised the need for a Car Park for the use of lawyers and litigants when the High and Magistrate Court Building, Eti-Osa becomes fully operational.

He also raised the need to push for the construction of alternative route from Oke-Ira to Alasia, to aid easy access to the Court given the usual traffic congestion along the Addo-Badore Road.

In his reaction, the Chief Judge assured that the Bar and Bench Forum will be revived accordingly with Quarterly Meetings and the inaugural meeting for 2020.

He also emphasized the priority of infrastructure and that the Lagos State Judiciary is in collaboration with the Executive to ensure easy access to Justice in Lagos State.

The Eti-Osa Bar Forum is reinvigorated with the cheering news of the incoming Eti-Osa Division as a big step forward in realising the Eti-Osa Branch of the Nigerian Bar Association.
