Garnishee Proceeding against Police: Kunle Edun Calls on Lawyers to Support Ike Augustine Esq

Mr. Ike Augustine is a young and vibrant legal practitioner based in the city of Owerri. In the year 2019 his fundamental rights were flagrantly infringed upon by some officers of the Nigerian Police Force alongside their civilan cohorts. Mr. Augustine, being a lawyer that knows his onions immediately filed a fundamental right enforcement action at the High Court in Owerri, Suit No.HOW/314/2019:
IKE AUGUSTINE, ESQ V. ONUOHA ANTHONY & ORS. V. CBN & ORS. The case is before Honourable Justice Azuama of High Court No. 6, in the Owerri Judicial Division.

Judgment was entered in favour of Ike Augustine and he has commenced
Garnishee proceedings. The Court graciously granted the order nisi sought. The matter is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, 28/2/2020 for the hearing of application to make the order nisi absolute.

I urge on all members of the Nigerian Bar Association in Owerri and visiting colleagues to the High Courts in Owerri to stand by and let us show solidarity to a vibrant young man who has a strong passion for the bar and has refused to give up for this country. Our support for him tomorrow by way of being present in court will help in giving him the comfort and fillip that the bar is one. One for all, all for one.
