Letter of administration in Nigeria is the legal authority granted by the Probate Registry to a person called the administrator or administratrix to administer the estate or property of a person who died intestate—without a valid will.
The administrator then derives his or her authority to act from the terms of the letters of administration, and where the letters of administration is not granted, an administrator lacks the authority to act as the properties of the deceased are deemed to be vested in the Chief Judge of the State.

Application Letter for the issuance of forms stating the following;
• Full Names
• Address
• Phone Number
• Two Passport Photographs
• The Email Address of each Administrator (Minimum of Two and Maximum of Four Administrators)
- Photocopy of Means of Identification of each Administrator.
- Photocopy of Death Certificate or National Population Commission Death Certificate of the Deceased. Original copy produced for sighting or an affidavit of Loss of Death Certificate and Police Report.
- Applicant to swear to an Affidavit that no other application has been previously made in either Lagos or Ikeja Registry.
- Forms to be submitted at the Head of Department Probate.

CAN NON – MEMBER OF THE DECEASED BUT HAVING MANDATE OF THE DECEASED FAMILY BE AN ADMINISTRATOR ?
Good morning sir / ma.
I will like to have a clarification on the aformention title above. We have an issue where the 3 wives of the Decease signs to engaged non member of the family ( an human right advocate, and a friend of the decease in the office before he died was engaged on trust ) , is that in order ?
2) Should the name of the administration appear in the form .
About my experience on this, I think it s in order that the name of the administration to appear in the front page as it makes the Bank to grant an attentions to the administrator. Even with my name in the front page, the Bank still demanded for my identity card.
3) We have 3 wives of the Deceace of Late PHC 1434L /2019 . Late Taiwo Adekunle Dosumu ) should the 3 wives be among the administrators or one could just be represented as their are other columns for wives and the benefactors in the same form.
4) Dose been an administrators authomatically make someone the beneficiaries of the Deceace ??
