MAN Nasarawa Branch Pays Courtesy Visit to State A.G., Solicits More Support for Magistrates’ Welfare

The Magistrates’ Association of Nigeria Nasarawa State Branch under the leadership of His worship Abdullahi H. Shams Shama, Esq. paid a courtesy visit to Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state, Dr. Abdulkarim A. Kana in his office at Lafia.

The chairman stated that the essence of the visit was to congratulate him on his re-appointment as Attorney General, and to commend his track record of achievements over time.

The delegation solicit with the Attorney General on the following issues:

  1. To cause the implementation of Harmonized allowance of Magistrates’Law 2015.
  2. Provision of vehicles for magistrates
  3. Proposed hosting of MAN National convention in Nasarawa state.
  4. Implementation of the Administration of criminal Justice Law 2018 in terms of Armed security personnel to be station in every court.

On his part, Attorney general Responding by appreciating the Magistrates for finding time to pay him the courtesy visit despite their tight scheduled.

Dr. Kana reiterated that the administration of the Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi A Sule is judiciary friendly and committed to the implementation of section 121 Of the Nigerian constitution on financial autonomy in terms of recurrent partial implementation. That the coming of the MAN.is apt as there is a committee set up by his Excellency, thus, the need to make presentation to the committee. That indeed Magistrates need to have cars, stating that its was unpleasant when he sighted one of the Zonal chief Magistrates with his orderly backed with piles of record books on commercial motor cycle. That things must change even the working environment.

Kana promised to communicate with the Commissioner of Police to discuss the provision of adequate security for magistrates, while pledging that efforts will be stepped up toward enhancing the general welfare of Magistrates in the state.
