Midwest Bar Forum adopts Akorede Habeeb Lawal as Candidate for Assistant Publicity Secretary

Akorede Habeeb Lawal adopted by the Midwest Bar Forum as sole candidate for the post of Assistant Publicity Secretary, NBA

The Midwest Bar Forum has unanimously adopted Mr Habeeb Akorede Lawal as its candidate for the post of Assistant Publicity Secretary in the forthcoming Nigerian Bar Association national elections.

The forum officially announced this decision shortly after its quarterly meeting in Asaba on Saturday, 30th June, 2018.

Lawal’s endorsement by the regionial body came as a result of his strong commitment and selfless service to the bar.

Members of the forum were urged to support and vote for Mr Lawal and all other candidates who were duly adopted.

 

Brief Profile of Akorede Habeeb Lawal

Lawal is the Principal Counsel of A.H. Lawal & Co [Habibi Chambers], Asaba, Delta State.

He graduated from the University of Ilorin in 2009 and was called to the Nigerian Bar the following year.

The mandatory national service took Akorede Habeeb Lawal to the Department of Public Prosecution, Delta State Ministry of Justice, Asaba.

After national service, he had a stint tutelage experience with M.N. Elunor & Co, Asaba and was blessed to have the opportunity afterwards to work as a Legal Research Assistant to a Federal High Court Judge sitting in Asaba until his lordship’s transfer to Lagos division of the court.

From Lawal’s early days as a young lawyer, he had been actively involved in NBA activities.

He was elected the Assistant Publicity Secretary of Asaba Branch from 2014 to 2016.

The branch, impressed with his remarkable performance, elected him as its current Publicity Secretary.

In addition, he has served the branch in other capacities — member of the Reconciliation Committee; Secretary of the Continuing Legal Education Committee and the Ad-hoc Committee on production of Asaba Branch Membership Directory.

Akorede Habeeb Lawal has made modest contributions to the improvement of the image of legal profession and the NBA through other activities.

First, as a columnist of “The Law and You” in The Pointer, an Asaba-based regional newspaper—his write-ups attracted enormous readerships as he. shared with the public proper understanding of the important role a lawyer plays in the daily lives of the average citizen.

Realising the challenges of bail applicants in the course of my pupillage experience at the Department of Public Prosecution in the Delta State Ministry of Justice, he assisted in editing the Nigerian Bail Application Report [2011], Vol. 1.

This work is on the library shelves of many legal practitioners within Delta State and outside jurisdiction.

Mr Lawal enjoys a thriving legal practice.
