As we ponder our nearly 50 years of partnership and the significant changes which have taken place in the profession over that time, it is clear to us that today our profession requires a new visionary leadership to meet the challenges of the future. Olumide Akpata is that candidate!
Throughout his career, Olumide Akpata has demonstrated an admirable capacity, leadership and an unrelenting drive for excellence. As Senior Partner at Templars, he has helped to build one of Nigeria’s largest and dynamic law firms. Olumide has service ingrained in his DNA. Under his leadership, the NBA-SBL moved to another level. His time as Chairman of the NBA-SBL was used to improve the capacity of young lawyers across Nigeria. He did not only deliver two excellent conferences but he also empowered the committees to deliver capacity building programmes throughout the country. As for character and pedigree, Olu is impeccable. He is a team player and bridge builder who will command the respect and cooperation of all relevant stakeholders in the legal profession.
With the increased challenges facing our profession and the nation at large, leadership at the NBA cannot be business as usual. From his excellent track record, we are in no doubt that Olumide will bring the vim, vigour and vision required to invigorate the practice of law in Nigeria. He will do well and bring honour and respect to the Nigerian legal profession.
It is for these reasons that we have no hesitation in endorsing his candidacy as the President of the NBA.
