On state of the nation, the meeting frowned and condemned in strong terms the illegality, despotic and highly depleting conducts perpetrated against the Kebbi State High Court Judge, Justice Elizabeth Karatu on the 5th of July, 2019.
We saw in a widely circulated video on how the Judge was molested, intimidated and flagrantly denied access to her court from delivering judgement in cases before her, being her last date of sitting before her retirement.
We are seized of the verifiable facts and evidence led by an Officer attached to the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps, forcefully threatening the Judge and police orderly with gun, to this end as custodian of the law in the temple of justice, we call on President Muhammadu Buhari alongside the leadership of the National Assembly to decisively conduct a diligent investigation into the remote cause and possibly recommend before the IGP to prosecute any culpable and indicted name(s) fingered in this heinous crime forthwith.
We equally condemn the 30 days ultimatum threats notice on reversal of the Federal Government’s RUGA policy issued on the 3rd of July, 2019 by the Coalition of the Northern Youth Groups.
Nigeria is a secular state and no one under whatever guise should hold the nation to ransom, hence the need for the law enforcement agencies to arrest any evil perpetrators forthwith.
The meeting condemned in its entirety the blunt refusal of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to obey all court orders for release of Shiites’ leader, El-zakyzaky which prompted the violent turn of an otherwise peaceful procession of the Shiites protest at the National Assembly in Abuja.
The meeting mandated the public interest initiative of the Forum ,lthe Nigerian Emancipation Movement to work with other well-meaning civil society groups to campaign for action by the Federal Government and the states’ governments on the growing spate of insecurity across the country.
The meeting congratulated Mr. Ebun Adegboruwa, the NEC Representative of the Forum on his elevation to the coveted rank of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
The statement was signed by Mr. Ayo Ademiluyi, Secretary of the NBA Lekki Forum.
