NBA to get Executive Director, Others, Amended Constitution States

The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, National Executive Committee, NEC, can now appoint an Executive Director for the Association, according to the newly amended NBA Constitution.

The Executive Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Association, which may include managing committees and staff as well as developing business plans as directed by the NEC.

In essence, an executive director is granted the authority to run an organisation, however, it is worthy to note that the exact functions of the NBA Executive Director will be clearly outlined in the letter of appointment.

Section 7 [5](e) NBA Constitution,2015, as amended


5. Subject to the provisions of the Legal Practitioners Act and other provisions of this Constitution, the National Executive Committee shall exercise and execute the following powers and functions:





e. Appoint an Executive Director and such other staff for the Association, under such terms and conditions as may be prescribed in their respective letters of appointments. The Executive Director shall be a person who has been called to the Nigerian Bar or who holds a University Degree in any of the Social Sciences and, in either case, also has a post-graduate degree or professional certificate and 7 experience in any of the following study areas: finance, accounting, or business administration; ”
