Two Kwara Assemblymen may Face Charges as Police Begin Investigations into Tenant’s Beating


Nigerian Police Force, Kwara State Command has commenced investigation into allegations of assault brought against Hon. Ganiyu Abolarin representing Isapa/Ekiti and Hon. Owolabi Razaq representing Share/Oke Odo, at the Kwara State House of Assembly.

This development followed a petition addressed to Commissioner of Police,Mr. Kayode Egbetokun by a concerned group, Leadership Appraisal Forum, which called for thorough investigation into the case and bring the law makers to book, if found culpable.

News were rife penultimate week, especially on social media, over allegations of assault meted out to Mr. Ogundokun Saheed and his friends by the two lawmakers.

As a result of the severe beatings believed to have been orchestrated by the Honourables Abolarin and Rasaq, the victim, was said to have sustained serious injuries and lost a tooth.

Oguntokun passed out and was rushed to a nearby medical centre, Anchor Hospital, Tanke, Ilorin, where he was revived.

The two lawmakers allegedly lead eight thugs to Ogundokun’s house and attacked him and other occupants. Despite the fact that he lost consciousness, Mr Ogundokun, along with his friends, was arrested and detained at ‘F’ Division, Tanke, Ilorin, on the allegation that he was an illegal occupant.

Mr. Ogundokun Saheed is a tenant to Hon Ganiyu Abolarin of the Kwara State House of Assembly.

From our findings, we gathered that commissioner of police, has commenced investigation into the case. The Deputy Commissioner of Police leads the investigation team. The two law makers, with their lawyers were at the police headquarters Wednesday to write their statements.

They were later released on self recognizance pending the outcome of full investigation.
