4th TAAM Conference: LASU Wins National Maritime Blue Print Competition

LASU law students were crowned champions in the National Maritime Blue Print 2019 last Friday

The Law Faculty Students of Lagos State University (LASU) have emerged champions of the 2019 edition of the National Maritime BluePrint Competition at the 4th Taiwo Afolabi Annual Maritime Conference held on September 12th and 13th, 2019 at the J. F. Ade Ajayi Auditorium, University of Lagos.

Other participating institutions were University of Lagos, Obafemi Awolowo University, University of Ilorin, University of Ibadan, Crescent University, Babcock University, Afe Babalola University, Bowen University and the University of Benin.

In the keenly contested debate which had various Maritime stakeholders in across Nigeria, LASU Law students defeated the University of Lagos and Obafemi Awolowo University students who emerged 2nd & 3rd position winners respectively.The victorious three LASU Law students are: Tiamiyu Hezekiah Toheeb, Enifeni Ibrahim and Emmanuel Omotayo Johnson.

The competition was organised by the Law Faculty Maritime Forum of the University of Lagos in conjunction with Sifax Group Nigeria.According to the CEO of Sifax Group, Dr. Taiwo Afolabi MON who spoke on the topic, ‘Innovations and Practical Reforms Towards Sustainable Growth in the Maritime Sector’ appealed to the Federal Government and it’s agencies to further fortify the nation’s coastal areas and Maritime boundaries against Maritime crimes.

He also commended the Executive Committee members of the UNILAG Maritime Forum ably led by Akinlade Gbenga and his hardworking team.No doubt the Maritime Conference was a grand success.
