Visionary and competence: Abdulrahman Shamsuddeen Yammama, Esq.

Abdulrahman Shamsuddeen Yammama, Esq. has been appointed as Special Assistant to the Administrator of the National Judicial Institute (NJI), Hon. Justice Salisu Garba.

The appointment took effect on August 13, 2021.

Mr. Yammama earned the position after having demonstrated excellence and expertise in his practice area as well as outstanding leadership, devotion to the rule of law, and a commitment to the independence of the judiciary.

Abdulrahman Yammama is a Principal Studies Fellow at the NJI. From 2015 to 2019, he served as a Senior Legislative Aide to Senator Tijjani Y. Kaura — on secondment from NJI — where he managed relationship between the legislator and other government ministries, departments and agencies, managed labour unions such as NLC, NURTW and other relevant pressure groups, among other duties.

He served as Senior Special Assistant to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, CFR from 2013 – 2015. Some of his duties were: providing legal advisory on policies and legislations of government; drafting and review of Bills proposed for enactment; drafting and review of Acts of National Assembly; and other related matters.

He still serves as Personal Assistant to Dr Usman Bugaje, the Convener of Arewa Research and Development Project.

Prior to joining the National Judicial Institute, Yammama was an Assistant Lecturer at the Department of Legal Studies, College of Administrative Studies and Social Sciences of the Kaduna Polytechnic and formerly an Administration Officer (Legal) at Umar Musa Yaradua University, Katsina State.

Yammama earned his undergraduate law degree from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 2006 and was called to the bar in 2007. He’s a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.

He holds a Masters Degree in Business and Commercial Law from Bayero University, Kano.

He also has a LLM in Oil, Gas and Renewable Energy Law from Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen, Scotland, UK.

Abdulrahman has a lot of research works to his credit. He has attended many national and international seminars and workshops.
