Admiralty University Of Nigeria Takes Off In October

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas has disclosed that the Admiralty University of Nigeria, ADUN, will begin academic activities in October 2018, with the commencement of degree programmes in three faculties.

The university has its main Campus in Ibusa, Delta State, with satellite campuses in Lagos, Sapele, and Calabar.

Mr Ibas said the permanent campus of the university, which would be along the Ibusa Ugwashi – Uku Express Way, near Asaba, Delta State, would be fully equipped with all academic infrastructure, Science Labs, computer facilities, students residential cafeteria and restaurant sports grounds.

He said that the Admiralty University was established out of a Public Private Partnership (PPP), between the Nigerian Navy through its investment arm – Navy Holdings and Hellenic Education, an International educational organisation.

Ibas, who was represented by the Chief of Policy and Plans, Navy Headquarters, Rear Adm. Henry Babalola, said that admission of students into the inaugural class was already ongoing.

e university was conceived to expand the frontiers of knowledge for the growth and development of humanity, meet the training needs of the Nigerian Navy.

“Along with those of their sister services with reduced travel abroad for training and the pressure it imposed on foreign exchange.

“Admiralty university of Nigeria will seek to spearhead the application of knowledge to solve real challenges of our time,” he said.

According to Ibas the school will also offer pioneer degree programmes in emerging fields such as Forensic Science, Cyber Security, and Soft ware engineering — and  the faculties of Medicine, Engineering, Law and Pharmacy will commence activities in 2019.

“A fully equipped Health Center as well as providing comfortable en-suite hostels for all students,” he said.

“Lectures will be delivered through flipped classroom technology, giving students access to lectures, notes, books and teaching materials online.

“This is in line with the best educational practices as experienced by students at some of the best universities in the US and Europe,” he said.

“Some of this partnership will also afford our students the opportunity to complete part of their degree programmes here in Nigeria, and other part at our partner university overseas,” he said.

The Admiralty University is a new institution that was set up to bring the best practices to Nigerians.
