Ahmed Alhaji Abdulgaffar Declares Intention to Contest for the position of NBA 2nd Vice President in July 2020 Elections

Current Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Kastina Branch, Ahmed Alhaji Abdulgaffar has declared his intention to contest for the position of NBA Second Vice President in the July 2020, elections.

Mr. Ahmed made this known in a statement on Thursday.

The statement reads:

Dear Distinguished Seniors/ Learned Colleagues,

Notification of Interest to Contest for the Postion of 2nd Vice President of the Nigerian Bar Association.


I hereby humbly write to you in respect of the above subject matter. Recently the Electoral Committee of NBA, ECNBA, released the 2020 National Elections guidelines outlining all the prerequisites for intending candidates, including download and submission of Nomination forms.

I have duly submitted my Nomination and Seconder forms according to ECNBA stipulations.

Premised on the foregoing, I hereby write to notify you of my intention to contest for the Second Vice President of our Association and to crave for your advice and prayers. My manifesto will be made available when the ban on campaign is lifted.

Ahmed Alhaji Abdulgaffar is the Principal Partner of A. A. Ahmed & Co; Katsina which was founded in 2005. He graduated from Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto in 1999 and proceeded to the Nigerian Law School, Bwari, Abuja leading to his call to the Nigerian Bar in January, 2001.

Ahmed bagged a Masters Degree in Law – LL.M (specialising in Commercial Law) from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in 2015 and is currently a Ph.D Research Student of the same University – ABU.

Since his call to bar in 2001, Mr. Ahmed Abdulgaffar has been in full private practice which began as a Corps member, in Albarka Chambers, Katsina – law firm of Musa Dalhatu Esq (Notary Public) and a former Council Member of Usman Dan Fodio University, Sokoto.

He continued his practice in Albarka Chambers a year after his Youth Service until 2003 when he moved to Maidangana Chambers, Katsina, Katsina State as an interim head and practised for two eventful years before establishing in 2005, his own firm — N.A. Ahmed & Co (now A. A. Ahmed & Co.) which he runs till date and has nurtured and groomed many young lawyers.

Appointed Notary Public of Nigeria in 2013, Mr Ahmed was between 2007 and 2011, and 2016 to 2018 also appointed Senior Legislative Aide, National Assembly Service Commission.

A quintessential bar man, he is an active participant in NBA activities both nationally and in his local branch. Whereas he attended all the NBA Annual General Conferences since he was called, he has also held some positions and served meritoriously in Committees thus:

  3. Member, NBA Delegates Conference, Ibadan – 2010

  6. Vice Chairman, NBA Katsina Branch – 2012 – 2014
  7. Observer, NBA Delegates Conference, Abuja – 2014
  8. Currently serving as the branch Chairman, NBA Katsina.

Mr. Ahmed is a native of Bida, Niger State.
