
The African Women Lawyers Association, AWLA, Rivers State Branch has commended the President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Mr Paul Usoro SAN, for facilitating the appointment of its members as life bencers, and into other crucial positions in the polity.

Coordinator of AWLA, Rivers State chapter lauded Mr Usoro for “living up to his gender empowerment promise and nominating three top female Lawyers recently appointed to the Body of Benchers.”

- Lady Gloria Umoren;
- Olufunmi Oluyede The women Lawyer’s body also commended Mr. Paul Usoro for the following appointments:
- Mrs. Efe Etomi into the National Judicial Council (NJC)
- Hajiya Safiya Balarabe as a member of the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC)
- Aisha Mohammed as Member of the Presidential Committee on Drug Addiction
- Iyabode Ogunseye as a member of the Presidential Committee on the Reform of SARS,
among several other appointments.
“Their appointment as Members of the Body of Benchers and committee members, we believe, will add immense value to the distinguished body”. The statement said.

l commend Mr usoro for for taking the right steps in the right direction . At least the gender apartheid is broken.
