The maiden law week of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ota Branch (Utter Bar) which has the timely theme “Technology and Administration of Justice” has successfully ran its course.
Law weeks are held by branches of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, to celebrate the role of law in our society and to cultivate a deeper understanding of the legal profession.
In a post-event report, the Publicity Secretary of NBA Ota, Chinelo Nonyelu-Olayanju, Esq. gave the following recap:
“The Utter Bar’s Inaugural Law Week entered its seventh and final day on Thursday, the 7th day of October, 2021 with 2 major events slated for the day, to wit: a lecture session and a law dinner session which was held in a colorful and glamorous way.
The Guest Speaker for the concluding lecture series was the Technology savvy Judge of the Ota Judicial Division in Ogun State High Court in the person of Honourable Justice E. A. Fabamwo with the topic : “The Importance of Technology in the Administration of Justice in Nigeria: Post COVID 19 Era”.
The Discussants who threw more light on the topic for the session were Adesina Adegbite, FICMC, Ewenode O. William Esq. and Akingbolahan Adediran Esq. (Hon. Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of Ogun State) with T.G. Adeosun Esq. moderating the lecture series session.
Honourable Justice O. O. Majekodunmi led other eminent Honourable Justices of the Ogun state Judiciary – Ota Judicial Division in support of their brother Judge who delivered the keynote lecture for the day.
Thereafter, the Utter Bar Law Week activities came to its climax with a colourful and befitting Law Dinner held for members of the great Utter Bar. Honourable Justice Laja Durojaiye was the Chairman of the occasion. Past executives of the great Utter Bar were all recognised at the dinner and they all joined hands to cut the cake to mark 20th year anniversary of the branch.
Also In attendance at the various lectures and dinner sessions were the various Magistrates of the Ota and Ifo Magisterial Divisions in Ogun State.
Indeed the law week and the law dinner event were a huge success as we saw members of the Utter Bar all come out in their great number dressed in their different colourful attires and styles for the Law Week and Law Dinner.
Members are now looking forward to a fruitful and a successful new legal year even as we look forward to the 2022 edition of the Utter Bar Law Week which we believe will be better than this Inaugural Law Week.
