Benue State JUSUN Strike: An Appeal to the NBA President

I am writing to bring to the attention of the NBA President, the ongoing strike by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria(JUSUN), Benue State which is now over two months. The strike has brought all judicial activities(litigation, signing of documents, probate, affidavit etc) in the state to a halt, and its impact is being felt by litigants, lawyers and the justice system as a whole.

The strike is not only affecting the livelihood of lawyers, but also denying litigants access to justice, police brutality etc. Many cases are being delayed, and justice is being denied to those who need it. The strike is also causing undue hardship to litigants who have been waiting for justice to be served.

Furthermore, the strike is also affecting the payment of NBA Annual General Conference (AGC) fees from Benue State. Many young lawyers in the state, who are eager to participate in the AGC, may be unable to do so due to the strike. The strike has also affected the income of many lawyers, making it difficult for them to pay their BPF, STAMP AND SEAL, NBA AGC fees.

I humbly appeal and call on the NBA National President to use his good office to intervene in the matter and if possible find a solution to the strike. The strike is not only affecting the justice system in Benue State but also the livelihood of lawyers and litigants, and the overall administration of justice in the state.
