The theme of the summit, titled “The New Age: Governance, Technology and Law”, was an obvious subject of great interest to the audience as they listened with rapt attention to the learned Silk who as expected demystified what many had thought was a very challenging topic.
The lecture organised by a team of astute young wigs of the NBA Port Harcourt branch, could not have come at a better time in the history of the Nigerian legal profession with the attendant challenges of modern day service delivery in law practice occasioned by the digitization of legal industry globally in line with international best practices.
Chief J-K Gadzama, SAN started his lecture by admonishing the young audience to embrace the positive impact of science and technology in legal practice. He highlighted that although our country is faced with the challenges of transitioning from the manualized, analogous and obsolete ways of doing things in the legal industry to a digitized legal practice realized by investment in science and technology development, the future is bright for the Nigerian legal system with our lawyers totally embracing what he termed “legal technology” to solve a wide evolving arrays of legal problems occasioned by the concept of globalization.
Chief J-K Gadzama, SAN challenged the young audience who he proudly referred to as the future of the Nigerian legal profession, to brace up to the modern trends across the world as they venture into their desired career in the Nigerian legal industry. He hinted that the industry has a vast opportunity in the legal service market and the legal talent market.
