Former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Wole Olanipekun, SAN has donated the sum of one million naira to the four branches of NBA in Ondo State.
This gift fund is aimed at supporting lawyers following the coronavirus outbreak.
A statement signed by the Chairman of NBA Akure branch, Ola Dan Olawale, Esq. disclosed that:
”With a view to cushioning the effect of economic hardship resulting from lockdown as a result of covid-19, Leader of the Bar in Nigeria, Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, OFR has donated the sum of N1 million to the 5 NBA Branches in Ondo State.
”Acknowledging receipt of the fund, Chairman of NBA Akure branch Oka Dan Okawe Esq., said the fund has been equitably distributed amongst the branches concerned, to wit, NBA Akure N300,000, NBA Ondo branch N200,000, NBA Okitipupa branch N200,000, NBA Owo branch N150,000 and NBA Ikere branch N150,000.
”Each of the 5 branches have perfected plans on how to buy food items to distribute to members in need.” Mr. Ola explained.
Expressing gratitude, the Chairman said ”While appreciating Chief Wole Olanipekun, SAN, OFR for his kind gesture, i call on other senior counsel who are blessed to assist young and needy lawyers. He noted that coronavirus pandemic will soon be a thing of the past.”
