Delta State Judiciary to Begin Annual Vacation August 1

The Delta State Judiciary has announced 1st August to 27th September, 2023, as the period set aside for its annual vacation.

In a circular dated 19th May, 2023, signed by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justicl Theresa.O. Diai, this declaration is in accordance with Order 45, Rule 42) of the High Court of Delta State (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2009 which provides that::

“There shall be an annual vacation of the Court to commence on such date in August and for such duration, not exceeding six weeks, as the Chief Judge may by notification in the gazette appoint.”

“Therefore, pursuant to the Directions made under Sections 35 and 36 of the High Court Law, Cap. H3, Volume 3, Laws of Delta State, 2006, the High Court of Delta State shall be on vacation for 12 working days that is, from Tuesday, the 1st day of August to Wednesday, the 27th day of September, 2023,” the release continued

“The 2023/2024 Legal Year shall commence on Thursday, the 28th day of September, 2023. Vacation Judges are hereby assigned to hear and/or determine only Urgent Causes/ Matters/Applications throughout the period of the Annual Vacation, as follows:

  1. Hon. Justice K. O. Okpu Sitting in the High Court of Justice, Asaba for Delta North Senatorial District.
  2. Hon. Justice C. E. Achilefu (Mrs)- Sitting in the High Court of Justice, Effurun for Delta Central Senatorial District. Asaba for
  3. Hon. Justice E. I. Oritsejafor Sitting in the High Court of Justice, Warri for Delta South Senatorial District.

“Honourable Judges, Legal Practitioners, Litigants and the General Public are hereby directed to note and take necessary action.” The Chief Judge enjoined.
