The Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch, Dhikrullah Adewale Balogun (DAB) was an invited guest at a programme organized by the Commonwealth Scholars and Fellows Alumni Association, Nigeria (COSFAN) in collaboration with the Kwara State Judiciary and Women and Child Watch Initiatives, to mark the end of the year event of the Association.
In his goodwill message, he said ‘I am very happy to be invited to this august occasion and to stand in the presence of very eminent Nigerians to deliver this goodwill message on behalf of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ilorin Branch.
The family is the bedrock of every society and once the family is broken, there would be no fulcrum on which the society stands, because the later cannot exist without the former. No society will insist that a man and a woman must co-exist against their wish but the law is very much interested in the welfare and dignity of the children of any dissolved marriage, which is what informed the creation of the family court.
The theme of this programme – Building An Effective Justice Delivery System Through The Family Court, is a well thought-out theme which stresses the need to build an effective, speedy and timeous justice delivery system through the family courts. Since I have mentioned the fact that, the essence of creating a family court is to protect and preserve the welfare and interest of the child of a family, an ineffective justice delivery will erode the whole essence of its creation.
As the former Welfare Secretary of the Ilorin Branch of the NBA and the Current Chairman of the Human Rights Committee of the Branch, the experience has shown the need to protect the welfare and interest of every child and so, I seize this opportunity to congratulate COSFAN for putting this programme together and carefully selecting the theme of the programme. I wish the association a very fruitful three (3) days programme and a very successful Annual General Meeting of the Association.’
