This book undertakes a critical review of the Employees Compensation Act 2010 and highlights the basic administrative framework for compensation of injured employees in Nigeria. The book appraises the effectiveness of the mechanisms established under the Act towards ensuring adequate welfare of injured employees and the compliance of the Act with ILO standards. It also focuses on the employment injuries compensation scheme established under the Employees Compensation Act 2010 and examines the scheme within the context of its objective, workforce covered, financing, compensable injuries and compensation, and administration of the Act; and the extent to which the scheme is in tandem with international labour standards. Finally, the book also suggests ideas and policy alternatives where necessary for consideration by policy makers and further amendments to the law to guarantee adequate and sustainable injury compensation scheme for the worker and economic development in line with the ILO Employment Injuries Benefit Convention recommendation.
