Eti-Osa Bar Forum Holds Exco Meeting at Christopher Segun Courthouse NBA Office, Tasks Newly Sworn in Olumide Akpata-led Leadership to Inaugurate NBA Eti-osa Branch

The Eti-Osa Bar Forum has held an Emergency Executive Committee Meeting at the dedicated office assigned to the Nigerian Bar Association at the Christopher Segun Courthouse, Addo Road, Ajah on Thursday, 27th August, 2020.

This was made known in a statement issued by Yakubu Eleto, the Publicity Secretary of the Eti-Osa Bar Forum.

In a related development, the Executive Committee wishes to felicitate with the newly sworn-in National leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association, who were sworn in on Friday, 28th August, 2020. The Executive Committee charged the new NBA National leadership to hit the ground running to unite all sections of the Bar and set about the issues of welfare and restoration of the Bar to its role as vanguard of promotion of rule of law.

The Committee also called on the new National leadership to inaugurate the NBA Eti-Osa Branch with the inauguration of the Eti-Osa Judicial Division, which is the condition precedent for same.

It will be recalled that arising from the Emergency Executive Committee Meeting, the meeting was of the view that the new NBA National leadership should consider the valid and subsisting application for NBA Eti-Osa Branch, signed by 50 legal practitioners within the Eti-Osa Judicial Division, as required by the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association, which has been submitted since February, 2019 to the NBA NEC.

The meeting also resolved that the Eti-Osa Bar Forum Webinar Series 1.0 scheduled go hold on 15th September, 2020, will have as its theme, REGULATION OF NON-PROFIT ENTITIES UNDER NEW CAMA 2020: MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING?

The meeting, under the State of the Nation, also condemned the fresh imposition of the electricity tariff hike by the Federal Government of Nigeria, which is scheduled to take off on September 1st, 2020. The meeting renewed the mandate of the Public Interest Initiative of the Forum, Nigerian Intervention Movement to go ahead with the mobilisation for the September 1st,2020 protest.
