The Eti-Osa Bar Forum held its Second Court-Centred Prison Decongestion Initiative (CCPDI) meeting on Wednesday, 11th November, 2020, at the Christopher Olatunde Segun Courthouse, Addo Road, Ajah, Lagos State.

This was made known in a statement issued by Yakubu Eleto, the Publicity Secretary of the Eti-Osa Bar Forum.

It will be recalled that the Eti-Osa Bar Forum recently kick-started the CCPDI at the Christopher Segun Courthouse to provide access to justice to the wide range of individuals who are economically handicapped to access legal representation upon their criminal arraignment or trial at the new Courthouse.

The maiden meeting was held on 4th November, 2020.

The series of meetings has attracted widespread enthusiasm from legal practitioners within the Eti-Osa Judicial Division, which is the jurisdiction of the Forum.

In a related development, the Forum has called for expansion of courtroom sitting spaces at the Christopher Segun Courthouse. With an empathetic view of the tragedy that befell the Lagos Division Courthouse at Igbosere, Lagos Island, the Forum is of the view that space can be made to allow more Judges of the High Court to sit at the Christopher Segun Courthouse as well as more Magistrates. The Forum believes this will aid the access to justice by members of the public.
