FIDA Rivers State Calls on Rivers Women to Turn out and Vote in Saturday’s Local Government Election

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Rivers State Branch has strongly enjoined women in Rivers State to turn out in their numbers and cast their ballots in the local government election holding Saturday.

Below is the full statement from FIDA Rivers addressed to women in the state:

Dear Women of Rivers State,

The International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, Rivers State Branch urges you to exercise your fundamental right to vote in the forthcoming Local Government elections on October 5th, 2024.

We encourage you to come out en masse, peacefully cast your ballots, and make your voices heard. Your participation is crucial in shaping the future of our dear state.

As mothers and caregivers, we also implore you to emphasize the importance of peaceful elections to your children. Remind them that election violence is a crime under the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law and has devastating consequences.

Let us collectively promote a culture of non-violence, tolerance, and respect for democratic processes. Our children learn from us; let us model peaceful behavior.

Together, we can create a brighter future for Rivers State.

Vote wisely, vote peacefully!

Sincerely,

Adata Bio-Briggs, Esq.
Chairperson,
FIDA Nigeria, Rivers State Branch.
