Lagos– Residents of Ijede community in Ikorodu on Sunday had access to free and confidential legal advice on a range of civil and criminal matters made possible by the Bayo Akinlade led Nigerian Bar Association, Ikorodu branch.
The Free legal advice and counselling focused on issues relating to Land: Tenancy, Contracts & Agreements, Family & Marriage, Child Abuse & Domestic Violence, Criminal cases (arrest & Detention), among other matters.
The aid clinic also gave general legal advice to members of the community on basic rights and enforcement of same.
The medical outreach powered by Milicent Foundation sought to promote wellbeing by offering free health tests which includes:
— sugar level
— Weight and height (Body Mass Index)
— Breast screening
The medical practitioners also distributed free drugs, and offered health tips and counselling.
The overall objective was to facilitate access to justice by the vast majority of citizens and to promote and strengthen the provision of pro bono legal services in communities.
The beneficiaries commended the project while expressing profound gratitude to the initiators of the laudable programme.
