At the recent 2022 Annual Summit of the NBA Port Harcourt branch Young Lawyers Forum (YLF) held at the NBA House Port Harcourt, it was an occasion to be. A yearly gathering of young Lawyers of the Port Harcourt branch of the NBA. The Keynote speaker and learned Silk, Chief Joe Kyari Gadzama, SAN delivered a lecture which centred on the theme of the summit titled “The New Age: Governance, Technology and Law” in a fully packed hall comprised of young Lawyers of diverse demographics.
Chief J-K Gadzama, SAN delivered the lecture in a manner which elated the young audience and enlightened even the older Lawyers who where also gathered in solidarity to hear the man they all fondly call J-K Gadzama. He interrogated the burning issues which strongly impacted on the future of legal practice in Nigeria and the world at large. He owned the topic as an expert specialist in legal technology. Many who gave their rapt and undivided attention to the keynote speaker, applauded at the revelation of industry specific line of thought as it is impacting on the entire legal industry in Nigeria.
To lend his voice to the topic and lecture, the former Governor of the Eastern Bar Forum (EBF), Soseipriye Long Williams, Esq. took to the podium and adopted in totality the speech of the Keynote speaker and lending credence to voice of a man that has transcended the Nigerian socio-geopolitical divide as a nationalist and a patriot. In his exact word, “Chief J-K Gadzama has said it all”. The audience concurred with a deafening applause which was later followed by the voices of other guest speakers at the event.
The panel session was chaired by a renowned Jurist of sort, Hon. Justice Adolphus Enebeli, Judge, High Court of Rivers State and classmate to Chief J-K Gadzama, SAN. The panel of guest speakers and panelists include Mr. George Etomi, a very experienced and seasoned commercial Lawyer, Hon. Justice E. N. Thompson, Judge, High Court of Rivers State and Chairman, Rivers State Judiciary ICT Committee, Professor, O. W. Igwe, Lecturer, Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, Mrs Inemesit Dike, Founder, Legal X App. and CEO Legal Concierge, Hon. Justice Gbasam Okogbule, represented by Bar. Amarachi, a Lecturer from the prestigious Babcock University amongst other eminent panelists.
In attendance at the event, was the indefatigable Chief Judge of Rivers State, Hon. Justice Simon Chibuzor Amadi, ably represented by the Hon. Justice E. Teetitho, Judge, High Court of Rivers State Port Harcourt who delivered the Chief Judge’s opening remarks and thanked the YLF for hosting such an august occasion that had the likes of Chief J-K Gadzama SAN as the Keynote speaker.
