Former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA Bwari Branch, Mohammed Tsav has congratulated the 72 new Senior Advocates of Nigeria who were sworn in by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad on Wednesday following consideration by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee.
Mohammed Tsav said: “I heartily congratulate the newly appointed Senior Advocates of Nigeria. Becoming a Silk involves an extremely rigorous selection process and so I congratulate all of the candidates on their achievements. The award and the SAN suffix it brings is acknowledged beyond our jurisdiction as a clear recognition of the exceptionally high standards of advocacy that can be expected of the Nigerian Bar.
” It is encouraging to see a diverse selection of SAN’s appointed this year. As a profession of all and for all, it is important our most senior advocates reflect the communities we serve.”
“It is important that we continue to make progress.
As we look forward to a brighter 2022, there is much to be done in promoting the indispensability of Nigeria’s lawyers to the administration of justice. Lawyers play a critical role in safeguarding the rule of law by ensuring that Nigerians have access to fearless and independent representation before the nation’s courts and tribunals. It is pertinent to note the NBA’s giant strides adopted ambitious programmes, prioritising enhanced professional standards for lawyers; fostering a collegiate, inclusive and diverse national profession; and advocating publicly for the importance of an independent judiciary and legal profession dedicated to the service of the Australian people.”
We look forward to the the Bar continuing to serve our community and the administration of justice with independence and integrity,” Mr. Tsav reiterated.
