Former Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Epe Branch has penned a tribute to the slain immediate past Vice Chairman of NBA Ihiala Branch, Awa Peter Awa.
Mr Awa was murdered in cold blood by unknown gunmen in his home town of Okija in Ihiala Local Government of Anambra State on Sunday 19th May.
Below is Funmi Adeogun’s tribute:
In the dark of night, they came unseen,
Their hearts filled with malice, their faces unseen.
Like shadows they struck, with no remorse,
Leaving behind sorrow, pain, and loss.
Unknown gunmen, their deeds cruel and vile,
Taking lives without reason, spreading fear and strife.
But know this, though they may hide in the night,
Their actions will never extinguish the light.
For love and compassion shall endure and prevail,
In the face of senseless violence, we shall not fail.
Together we stand, united and strong,
In memory of those we’ve lost, our voices a song.
To the unknown gunmen, your actions we condemn,
For the pain you’ve caused, for the lives you’ve hemmed.
May you find redemption, may you find peace,
And may love and forgiveness never cease.
