J-K Gadzama LLP Holds the 6th Edition of the Hon. Justice Chukwudifu Oputa JSC Professional Training and Mentoring Programme for Young Lawyers

J-K Gadzama LLP recently organized the 6th edition of the Honourable Justice Chukwudifu Oputa JSC Professional Training and Mentoring Programme for Young lawyers. 

The event was chaired by the Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Hon. Justice Salisu Garba. Chief Kanu Godwin Agabi SAN, CON, a former Attorney General and Minister of Justice of the Federation delivered the Keynote address while Mr Muyiwa Oyetola Atoyebi SAN– the youngest ever recipient of the rank of SAN and Managing Partner at Omaplex Law firm; Mrs Dianne Okoko FCIArb, Partner at Marcus Okoko & Co; Mrs Toyin Bashir, Partner at Banwo and Ighodalo and Mr Darlington Onywekwere, Partner at J-K Gadzama LLP were discussants.

The hybrid event was well attended by lawyers who fell within the range of 0 – 10 years at the bar. On the first day, they were treated to a networking cocktail; thereafter, the main event which was the mentoring and training programme took place on the second day. The programme was capped off with a breakfast on the third day. Even though the event was heavily attended by lawyers, all COVID-19 protocols were duly adhered to. 

Chief J-K Gadzama SAN, the host of the event, whilst making his opening remarks noted that young lawyers need to be treated better; however, he advised them to work hard, persevere and utilize their networks to build a successful legal practice. 

In his address, Chief Kanu Agabi SAN urged the lawyers to persevere within the profession despite the gloomy appearance that may be gleaned. Furthermore, he pushed the lawyers to add value before chasing financial gratification. On his part, the representative of the Chief judge of the High Court of the FCT, Hon. Justice H. Y. Baba motivated the lawyers to work diligently and await the rewards which would surely present themselves.
