“RE : 1st COMMEMORATIVE LECTURE OF THE SUCCESSFUL ANTI- LAGOS STATE LAND USE CHARGE LAW 2018 PROTESTS
The attention of the RADICAL AGENDA MOVEMENT IN THE NBA and the PROGRESSIVE BAR FORUM has been drawn to a Release made this afternoon 11th August 2020 by the CARETAKER COMMITTEE OF THE NBA IKEJA BRANCH disowning participation in the event underneath published.
We have no interest in joining issues unduly with the COMMITTEE . However it should be put on record that we had discussed with the leadership of the Committee on Saturday 8th August 2020 with sufficient enough details including VENUE and was advised to bring a formal letter on Monday 10th August 2020 to the Ikeja Bar Secretariat when they would be having a meeting.
We kept the appointment but the Committee members did not come to the Centre and we were directed by the Committee to drop our letter with the Bar Clerk , which we did . We even took a further step of sending the letter via WhatsApp to the Secretary of the Committee in the afternoon.
When we now met today, 11th August 2020 with the Committee, they gave their reasons for their inability to participate in the programme which reasons , to wit are ( a) shortneness of notice ( b) prior engagement on the scheduled date of Thursday 13th August 2020, reasons quite different from they stated in their Release.
We parted amicably with us stressing the fact that we are going ahead with the programme while they are free to organise theirs at their convenience.
Accordingly the schedule for the programme remains and the new Venue is ZEN GARDEN CHINESE RESTAURANT, 60 ISAAC JOHN STREET G R A, IKEJA. LAGOS”
