Yemi Akangbe has pledged to establish a Medical Insurance Scheme for members if elected Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Lagos branch.
Health insurance is a vital consideration for any practicing lawyer. Whether you’re a solo-practitioner, small law-firm or a team of multiple partners, having a good insurance policy will provide peace of mind and financial support in the case of any unforeseen medical situations.
“The productivity of any individual is inextricably linked to his or her mental and physical well being,” Akangbe said.
” I am therefore mindful of the fact that our members may be unable to take advantage of the many capacity building programmes that we plan to place at their disposal if they are unable to access affordable and qualitative health care.
“I will therefore, as a matter of utmost priority, seek to establish, within 100 days of being elected, a Medical Insurance Scheme for members of the Branch. I have held preliminary discussions in this regard with some health care providers and HMOs, who are market leaders in this field, and I have been assured that given our numerical strength, the NBA Lagos Branch is well positioned to set up such a Scheme and to negotiate affordable premiums for members who elect to be enrolled therein,”
