Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mazi Afam Osigwe will unveil the Association of Legislative Drafting Practitioners (ALDRAP) legislative law clinic at the Faculty of Law, Nasarawa State University, Keffi on 31st August, 2022.
At least fifty law students will participate in the law clinic which will hold once a week.
The lectures will be followed by a practical hands-on session wherein the law students will have the opportunity to apply their newly acquired Legislative Drafting skills by drafting Bills assigned to them by the Office of the Hon. Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice of the Ministry of Justice, Nasarawa State.
The whole concept will involve allowing ALDRAP to design a curriculum and train law students (under the supervision of the Law Clinic of the Faculty of Law, NSUK) on how to gain Legislative Drafting skills by drafting Bills assigned to them by the Nasarawa State Ministry of Justice.
The Association of Legislative Drafters and Advocacy Practitioners (ALDRAP) is a not-for-profit Organisation that comprises of lawyers and other professionals who are employed at the National Assembly and other legislatures within and outside Nigeria.
The major goal is to promote the professionalism of legislative drafting and advocacy as a means of improving the quality of legislation within Nigeria. As a professional Association we aspire to become like the ICAN of the legislative drafting discipline.
