Midwest Bar Forum Replies Egbe Amofin says Its Statement was for Members Only

My attention has been drawn to the Rejoinder by Egbe Amofin to the publication from Midwest Bar Forum captioned “Midwest Bar Forum And Egbe Amofin Agree on NBA Presidency Macro-zoning, No Commencement Date Yet”.

The said statement from Midwest Bar Forum was not meant for the information of the general public but was meant for circulation among the members of the Forum for the purpose of appraising them of the state of negotiations so far between Egbe Amofin and the Midwest Bar Forum since the Forum would not meet until after the NBA National election.

Negotiations between the two bodies are still ongoing and the Parties have not signed a Memorandum of Understanding. Any agreement between the Parties must naturally be in writing and executed by both sides to have any binding effect.

However, the point must be made that there were several incorrect statements contained in the Rejoinder by Egbe Amofin that do not represent what actually transpired at the said meetings. In particular, the issue of the purported letter from Chike Onyemenam, SAN, never arose during the said meetings as issues raised therein had been adequately addressed in the emails sent to Chief Wole Olanipekun SAN, the Leader of Egbe Amofin by Chief Albert Akpomudje, SAN on 24th June, 2020 and that of the Leader of the Midwest Bar Forum, Chief T.J.O. Okpoko SAN on 27th June, 2020.

Be that as it may, we do not want to join issues on the other incorrect statements.

The Midwest Bar Forum regrets that the information meant strictly for its members was seen in the public space.
