MULAN Gombe Branch Flags Off Its 1446AH/2025CE Annual Legal Awareness Campaign, Urges Members to Pray for the Soul of Its Departed Member, Amina Abubakar Sadik, Esq.

The Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN) Gombe Branch has flagged off its Annual Ramadhan Legal Awareness Campaign at Bula Kyari Central Mosque in Akko local government area of Gombe State.

The Campaign is tagged “Negative Effects of Deferred/Delayed Distribution of Inheritance Estate and other Legal Issues Threatening the Peace and Unity of the Muslim Ummah in Rural Areas.”

During the Campaign, the MULAN Gombe Branch Chairman , Ahmed Yakubu Gombe Esq. called on the Muslim Ummah to take reasonable steps to distribute the estate of deceased Muslims within reasonable time. According to the Branch Chairman, experiences have shown that delayed distribution often leads to unnecessary court litigations, hatred and emnity among family members particularly in the rural areas.
Ahmed Gombe also called on the Ummah in the state to make endowment (Waqf) of part of their wealth and encouraged them to register same at the Gombe State Sharia Court of Appeal registry for the court to officially take notice of it. This is to minimize the chances of disputes among the heirs of the deceased donor and the beneficiaries in the event of any subsequent disagreement.

The Branch also called on Muslim lawyers across the nation to prioritize sulhu (amicable settlement) over the traditional litigation window in the settlement of disputes.

According to the Branch Chairman, this year’s Awareness Campaign is targeted at addressing some legal issues concerning sale of second hand GSM Mobile phones, cattle rustling/stealing at cattle markets and Rural communities, high rate of involvement of scavengers in the offences of theft, extortions and receiving stolen properties among others which are now rampant in the courts.
