NBA Anaocha Branch Public Interest Litigation Committee Urges CLE to Stand Firm on Non-proliferation of Law School Campuses

Anambra State- The Public Interest Litigation Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Anaocha Branch, through its Chairman Abuchi Goshen Ogbachalu Esq.,ACIarb(UK), ALD, has urged the Council of Legal Education (CLE) to prevent the profligaration of Nigerian Law School campuses.

The Chairman’s remarks came during the Committee’s courtesy visit to the Deputy Director General & Head, Nigerian Law School, Enugu Campus last Friday.

Mr Ogbachalu said the Council must do everything within its powers to oppose the bill seeking to create additional law school campuses.

“The Committee was received by the Deputy Director General & Head, Maureen Stanley-Idum, Esq. and her academic team which includes the Director of Administration Magaji M. Shuwa Esq. and the Director of Accounts,” a statement from the Committee said.

“The DDG and her Academic Team conducted the Committee round the campus facilities including but not limited to the Nigerian Law School library. The Committee Chairman reassured the DDG of the NBA Anaocha Branch Vision and mission statement targeted at fixing uninterrupted Continuing Legal Education for Young Lawyers.

“At the interactive session, E.F. Ugwuoke Esq., MCIARB., MNIM and A.G. Ogbachalu Esq., ACIarb(UK) ALD advised against proliferation of additional Law School campuses and prayed the Council of Legal Education to without the slightest hesitation reject and object the Bill seeking to create more Campuses of the Nigerian Law School.

The Committee Chairman, Ogbachalu Esq., while thanking the DDG and Council of Legal Education for the physical transformations and improvements carried out and seen so far at Augustine Nnamani Campus, Enugu even as he canvassed for more funding of the 7 existing law school campuses.

In her remarks, the DDG and her Academic Team thanked the Committee and assured the Bar of the highest maximum professionalism and academic standard already existing in the Nigerian Law School. A member of the Committee; Torkwase Queen Takerada Esquire applauded the Mr. Shuwa Esq. for the academic contributions, quality facilities and infrastructural improvements enjoyed by Law Students while he was at the Nigerian Law School, Kano Campus,” the statement concluded
