
The Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Epe Branch, Funmi Adeogun, FNIMC has announced that the Branch will commemorate this year’s world human rights day with the students of Odomola Secondary School in Epe.
According to Mrs. Adeogun who doubles as the Chair of the Branch’s Human Rights Committee “All Human, All Equal” is this year’s theme for Human Rights Day.
Adeogun reiterated that “The principles of equality and non- discrimination are at the heart of human rights and children are not left behind.Children think that everyone will think they are special and will treat them equally hence some resort to bullying when reverse is the case,”
“Following reported cases of bullying to death of a 12- year- old student of Dowen College, Lekki Lagos ( Sylvester Oromoni Junior) by his fellow students and killing of a teacher by some students in Epe,” she said, recalling the trend of violence in schools.
“The NBA Epe Human Rights Committee has decided to celebrate the Human Rights Day with the Students in Odomola Secondary School in Epe with the aim of: Creating awareness on their rights, eradicating bullying in Schools, addressing and finding solutions for deep-rooted forms of discrimination that have affected the most vulnerable students in schools,” Adeogun explained.
