The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Katsina branch, congratulates Safiya Badamasi Umar, SAN, on her conferment as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria on the 23rd of September, 2019, following consideration by the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee.
Umar, SAN, is the first indigene of Katsina State to earn the prestigious SAN rank. She is the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, Katsina State.
Her professional excellence, strong record of leadership and service, and deep-seated commitment to equality and justice embody the ideals of a democratic society and NBA Katsina branch is proud of her.
Born on June 12, 1968, Umar, SAN, obtained a Diploma in Law from Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic in 1987, LL.B from Bayero University, Kano, in 1995 and was called to the Bar in 1998. She has also served as the Director of Public Prosecution of the Katsina State Ministry of Justice.
The SAN award is acknowledged as a clear recognition of the exceptionally high standards of advocacy that can be expected of the Nigerian Bar.
