The Taskforce on Illegal Practice of law, NBA (Lagos Branch) led by Lotanna Okoli SAN, as part of its mandate visited LASGIDI (90.1FM) Radio Station to sensitise the public on ways to identify a lawyer truly called to the Nigerian Bar.
The Learned Silk was with the Secretary of the Taskforce, M.M.A. Sanni. They both gave insight as to the offence of impersonation of lawyers and the features members of the public can use to figure out whether or not a person is a fake lawyer.
The taskforce stemmed from the need to provide reliable information about lawyers to the public to advance public understanding of legal law practice.
There are times when unscrupulous persons will hold themselves out to be lawyers, it’s important that the bar does all it can to prevent these incidents.
To ensure safety and the legitimacy of the legal services being provided to them, the general public is advised to only deal with authorised and regulated lawyers.
