The close association of Yemi Akangbe with young lawyers is undisputed, thus, he has proposed plans to help this dynamic group achieve their long-term career goals by making professional growth both possible and rewarding.
Like young lawyers themselves, Akangbe looks to the future. If elected as Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Lagos branch, all activities and programmes will be designed to assist budding lawyers in building successful professional lives.
“Young Lawyers will be the cardinal focus of the NBA Lagos Branch under my watch and they shall be the foremost beneficiaries of our programmes and activities. We will actively work towards the emergence of a strong and effective Young Lawyers Forum, YLF, and to this end, we will propose to the Branch that the YLF be permitted to choose its own leadership. We will also pay particular attention to the welfare of Young Lawyers, particularly the issue of remuneration. We will engage with all relevant stakeholders on this very topical issue with the aim of arriving at a realistic and mutually agreeable minimum remuneration package for Young Lawyers – a “living wage” -which all employers will be encouraged to subscribe to.” Mr. Akangbe stated in his Manifesto.
