NBA Ota Branch Holds First Physical Monthly Meeting after Covid-19 Lockdown


The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA Ota Branch – the Utter Bar- held her first physical meeting after the lockdown on Friday – the 2nd day of October, 2020.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Branch’s Publicity Secretary, Chinelo Nonyelu-Olayanju.

At the meeting, the Chairman of the Branch Mr. J. T. Ogunniyi stated how happy he was that life is gradually returning back to normal and that he was happy that the Bar was able to successfully hold a physical meeting.

The Chairman at the meeting went ahead to give a report to the house on what the newly elected executives had done after assumption of office – the visits to various dignitaries in the judiciary arm of the government amongst which are the Honourable Chief Judge of Ogun State – Honourable Justice M. A. Dipeolu, FICMC, the President and members of the Customary Court of Appeal, and the Attorney General of Ogun State.

The Chairman further briefed the house on how NBA Ota had successfully prosecuted 3 fake lawyers within Ota jurisdiction in a space of 2 months, and how each of the fake lawyers were sentenced to a minimum jail term of 3 years each. The names of members of the various committees that were constituted were read out and various other germane issues like the effective working of the Bar’s website and the importance of the Insurance Scheme that was set up by the immediate past executives were also discussed at the meeting.
