NBA-SPIDEL Conference to Hold in Abuja, August 4-5, 2022 as Chairman Constitutes Planning Committee

Standing, NBA-SPIDEL Chairman, Dr Monday Ubani with other members of the Section’s Governing Council during last year’s Conference in Ibadan.

The yearly Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest Development and Litigation, NBA-SPIDEL earlier billed to take place in Sokoto State last May will now hold in Abuja on 4th and 5th of August, 2022.

“After a careful consideration, the Executive of NBA-SPIDEL has chosen the 4th and 5th of August 2022 for the Conference at the NBA National Headquarters, Abuja with a theme: “THE UNDERMINING OF JUDICIAL AUTHORTIY IN DEMOCRACY,” said Dr. Monday Ubani, NBA-SPIDEL Chairman.

According to Chairman, the keynote address for the Conference will be delivered on the 4th of August, 2022 by Hon. Justice Inyang Okoro while Hon Attorney Generals of Lagos State, Abia State and Chief Mike Ozekhome SAN have all confirmed their attendance to the conference as Resource Persons.”

The first day is 4th of August, 2022. It is going to be a plenary with the topic: “Disobedience to Court Order – a Call to Anarchy”. Topic for the afternoon session shall be decided by the CPC with particular attention paid to the central theme. You will also have to assemble the resource persons that will handle the afternoon session.

On the second day, the morning topic will be: “The Impediments to Seamless Execution of Court Order in Nigeria any way out? with Chief Mike Ozekhome SAN as the lead speaker.

The afternoon session on the 5th of August, should be left for special programs involving Law Pavilion and Nigeria Human Rights Commission.

The Chairman of NBA-SPIDEL will coordinate the Law Pavilion program in conjunction with the organization while Nigeria Human Rights Commission program will be coordinated by Dr. Uju Agomoh in conjunction with the commission.

Detalls of the program shall be disclosed to the CPC as soon as possible.

The two days plenary conference is expected to parade Judges, notable lawyers, legislators, politicians and stakeholders on public interest matters.
