OSJI, RoLAC, IKODASS, Total, E&P, Others to Sponsor NBA Ikorodu Branch PDSS Report

Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Ikorodu Branch, Bayo Akinlade says the bar will launch a report chronicling probono services it has rendered to the public so far.

On the 13th of November 2019, the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Ikorodu Branch, will launch a report detailing the probono activities of the bar.

The report will cover the Branch’s involvement in the Police Duty Solicitors Scheme, PDSS, the Court centered Prison Decongestion Initiative and its monthly Community Legal Aid Programme.

The event will be hosted as part of the Ikorodu Oga Week organised by the Ikorodu Development Association, IKODASS.

Open Society Justice Initiative has been a major sponsor of the Ikorodu Branch from the beginning. Others include, Total E&P Coop, British Council RoLAC Programme, PZ Cussons and others.

More donors are set to join in supporting NBA Ikorodu Branch in its activities in this regard.

The launch slated for 13th of November will be chaired by the Hon. Justice Opeyemi Oke [Rtd], Chief Judge Emeritus of Lagos State, and anchored by the famous actress/TV/Radio Presenter, lolo 1 [Adaku in Jennifer’s Diary]

Distinguished guests include the Lagos State Governor, the Hon Chief Judge of Lagos State, top Government Officials, traditional rulers, the top hierarchy of the Police, Correctional Services, NGOs, Community Leaders, Politicians, NBA Branches and others

The launch of the report is aimed at promoting public awareness regarding certain provisions of the Administration of Criminal Justice [ACJL/ACJA] especially as it relates to the rights of a suspect in police custody.

The Chairman of the NBA Ikorodu Branch, Mr. Bayo Akinlade Esq commended the efforts of the over 30 volunteer lawyers in his Branch for their service to humanity and expressed gratitude to all partners and collaborators who made it possible for the lawyers to reach out to the community
