Remation Services Ltd Hails Governor Douye Diri for Heading the Cry of Widowed Contractor, Urges Him to Perfect His Good Deed by Abridging the 20 Months Installment Approved in Payment of Owed Amount

Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Douye Diri. The subject matter of the suit, the Bayelsa State High Court complex.

Rematon Services Limited, the indigenous contractor that constructed the Bayelsa State High Court Complex, which is the headquarters of the judicial arm of Government in the State, has praised Senator Douye Diri, the Executive Governor of Bayelsa State, for approving the payment of the debt it owes the company as contract balance for the construction of the Bayelsa State High Court complex, which has been due for payment for over 15 years.

In a statement signed by Arch. Pst. (Mrs.) Boma Ojokojo, (the widowed alter ego of Rematon Services Limited), the company applauded the approval by Governor Douye Diri to pay the negotiated judgment debt of N1.3 Billion owed her company, which the previous administrations in the state failed, refused or neglected to pay. She hailed it as a testament of His Excellency’s rare virtues of empathy, sympathy, humility and the fear of God, for which she is grateful to the Governor.

However, Mrs. Boma Ojokojo further appeals to His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, to perfect his good work by kindly abridging the 20- months installment approved by His Excellency for the payment of the said negotiated judgment debt of N1.3 Bbillion, in order to further lessen the huge financial burden on the neck of Rematon Services Limited arising from liabilities accrued against the company as a result of the failure of the past Bayelsa State administrations to pay the contract debt owed it all these years, with huge interests running thereon on a monthly basis.

These colossal liabilities will consume almost the entire sum of 1.3Billion payment if it is spread to over one year and eight months installments, thereby leaving the company with no tangible benefit, and watering down the impact of the good gesture of His Excellency.

The widowed contractor noted that the Bayelsa State Government had previously negotiated and agreed with her for the payment of the said judgment debt owed her in 4 installments within 6 months, with effect from December, 2024. She thus appeals to the Government to be kind enough to abridge the period of payment of the approved N1.3 Billion to amount as the earlier agreed 4 months installment or a shorter period.

She posited that approving the payment of N1.3 bBillion over 20 months installment spread, is akin to giving with one hand and taking back with the other hand, considering the colossal debts and liabilities upon the company as this will inflict more pain, suffering, and hardship on her and the company.

Arch. Pastor Boma Ojokojo stated that she wished to end the pending legal battle with the Bayelsa State Government and therefore appeals to the conscience of Governor Douye Diri, to hear the cry of a poor widow who has been subjected to untold hardship these many years as a result of this debt owed their company – Rematon Services Limited by the Government of Bayelsa State for over 15 years for a contract duly executed and commissioned. Arch. Ojokojo trusts that Governor Diri will have compassion on her by graciously approving the abridgement of the payment of the debt of N1.3Billion to a maximum period of 4 installments not exceeding six months.
