Secretary of the NBA National Welfare Committee, Ogaga Emoghwanre Sends Goodwill Message to NBA Calabar Branch on the Occasion of Its 2022 Law Week

Ogaga Emoghwanre, Esq.

Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Welfare Committee, Ogaga Emoghwanre, Esq. has sent his felicitations to the NBA Calabar Branch on the occasion of its 2022 Law Week holding from 4th to 10th April, 2022.

In his goodwill message, Mr Ogaga Emoghwanre said:

“Chinua Achebe once alluded that when we gather together at the moonlight to have folklore, it is not because we cannot all sight the moon from our respective homes, but it is for the spirit of kinship and brotherhood. Hence, it is greatly commendable that the Calabar Branch of the NBA kick-starts this annual ritual to chart a new cause for our dear noble profession and for the greater good of the society.

“The theme: “We, the People: Agenda for National Consensus” reiterates the preamble of the 1999 Constitution, tickles and reminisce our consciousness of the fact that the “people” is supreme, paramount and unreservedly vital in any democratic dispensation. It is this people-oriented bond that Karl von Savigny (a German Aristocrat) regarded as the “Volkgeist” and also the prophetic fulfillment of John Locke’s social contract for every sane and democratically rooted entity.

Similarly, it is a duty and evidently imperative for lawyers to continually play this critical role in deepening our people-oriented constitutional democracy.”

I want to congratulate the Chairman of Calabar Branch Mr. Attah Ochinke, the Executive and the Law Week planning committee for the continued pursuit of the ideals and advancement of the legal profession while also wishing the members, guests and participants a productive and successful assemblage. Do well to also enjoy the rich rooted culture of the Cross Riverians, serenity, delicacies, tourism, amongst others that the State is blessed with.

Regards,

Ogaga Emoghwanre, AICMC,

Secretary, National Welfare Committee of the NBA
