The Leadership of the NBA-YLF Yenagoa Branch Meets with the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State

The Leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association Young Lawyers’ Forum (NBA-YLF) Yenagoa Branch in line with its desire to build a more cordial relationship with senior lawyers and the Bench; particularly in their bid to bring everyone on board the “Building Capacity Train”; paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Honourable Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemieye.

This is contained in a statement signed by the NBA-YLF Yenegoa Publicity Secretary, Smith Livinus-Agala and the Assistant Publicity Secretary, Esther Daniel.

The delegation which was made up of the EXCOs and other young lawyers was led by the Chairman of the NBA-YLF Yenagoa Branch A, Izibetoyin Eze.

Speaking through the Chairman, the young lawyers expressed appreciation to the Chief Judge for the audience as well as congratulated his Lordship for his elevation to the position of a Chief Judge in the State.

Thereafter, the YLF Chairman relayed to the Chief Judge the programs set out by the new leadership of the YLF, Yenagoa (Building Capacity Project).

Responding to the young visitors in a motherly mood, the Chief Judge applauded the ideas of the leadership of the YLF, Yenagoa; particularly the area of character building and mentorship which are key tools for the success of every young lawyer.

The Chief Judge, Hon. Justice M.A. Ayemieye advised the leadership of the YLF, Yenagoa to pass the message to other young lawyers that there is a need for all young lawyers to be resilient in their practice if they must make it in the legal profession. My lord re-echoed the need to have good character as a young lawyer, vision and focus. He added that hardwork pays eventually as a lawyer.

Furthermore, my lord advised the young lawyers to be exposed to new and emerging areas of law, specialize in them, and gather more knowledge through further education. As these are what makes a lawyer stand out and be sellable.

The meeting ended with the leadership of the YLF, Yenagoa making a presentation to the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Ayemieye, for and on behalf of the entire YLF, Yenagoa.
