I specially congratulate the Chairman and members of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Developmental Law (NBA-SPIDEL) on the successful hosting of its town hall meeting which took place at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The first time I set my eyes on the theme of the meeting which is “ Justiciability of Chapter Two of 1999 Constitution: Pragmatic Measures for Government’s Accountability,” I was convinced that not only was the theme apt and ripe for the moment, it has become very expedient to remind government at all levels that, the chapter is the main essence of governance and reiterates the need to ensure its justiciability, especially now that the Constitution is undergoing alterations at the National Assembly.
I commend the leadership of the Section for coming up with this very fascinating theme, that is capable of engendering public discuss and ensuring that the interest of citizens takes the center stage of government decisions and actions.
So many resource persons graced the meeting which added glamour and value to the essence of the meeting.
I really commend and appreciate the Section for providing the opportunity for all participants to acquire legal education and resourceful information.
The NBA-SPIDEL is more than ever positioned to ensure the enthronement of the rule of law in Nigeria and I thank the the leadership of the NBA led by our own indefatigable Mr. Olumide Akpata, for ensure and providing the enabling environment that allows the various Sections to pursue meaningful programmes that will impact positively the lives of lawyers and the Country at large.
