NBA YLF Urges Young Lawyers to Pay BPF, Stay Safe as Authorities Seek to Contain Coronavirus Spread

The Governing Council of the Nigerian Bar Association Young Lawyers Forum enjoins all young lawyers to pay their annual Bar Practice Fees (“BPF”) before the 31^st of March, 2020 in line with Rule 9 (1) – (3) of the Rules of Professional conduct.

We note that any Legal Practitioner who fails to pay the BPF by the stipulated date stands the risk of forfeiting every right such Legal Practitioner enjoys in Court, corporate practice or as an in-house counsel and loss of other rights and privileges generally.

Kindly note that the BPF is to be paid into the following account using a customized teller provided by the bank: Account Name: Supreme Court of Nigeria (BPF); Account Number: 0000976716; Bank: Access Bank.

Below is the relevant schedule of BPF for young lawyers:

1.         Legal Practitioners 5-9 Years post call – 10,000; and

2.         Legal Practitioners of 1-4 Years post call- N5,000

Further, in light of recent developments in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic and reported cases in Nigeria, the NBA YLF Governing Council urges all young lawyers to observe precautionary measures as advised by the relevant health authorities, including but not limited to high standards of personal hygiene and social distancing.
